about the Marquis de Sade

Donatien Alphonse-Fran?is de Sade or the marquis de Sade (June 2, 1740 December 2, 1814), was born in the Cond palace in France. He was son to aristocrats, bearing the title Marquis that his grandfather had earned. From a very early age, Sade was spoiled by a league of aunts, educated in a Jesuit lyc?, which is an all boys school. After school, he joined the military.

It wasn't after his marriage to Ren?-P?agie de Montreuil, after his retirement from the military, that he began to live in the life of a French libertine. He participated in such acts as bigamy, sodomy, purchasing prostitutes, kidnapping, and imprisonment. It was so bad that he had to escape France with his wife. Finally, caught after many adventures, he ended up in the Bastille, let out only days to be housed in the Charneton house for the insane before the famous storming took place and the revolution was underway.

Despite being a Marquis, Sade was able to make a name for himself in politics. He was elected to the National Convention and held offices. Of course, he soon enough ended up in jail, though he was released once Maximilien Robespierre was sent to the guillotine. Once Napoleon came into power, appalled by this writings, Sade was arrested again. He was returned to Charenton where he spent out the last of his days with ex-actress and lover, Constance.

Nature has not got two voices, you know, one of them condemning all day what the other commands.
